Leading Mathematics: Enabling Sustainable Change - Teaching for Mastery for those with less experience

Thursday 28 November, Thursday 16 January, Thursday 1 May 0915-1145 Coleham Primary School, SY3 7EN

Need support in understanding and using Teaching for Mastery approaches?

This pathway will guide you through key principles and how they can support teaching and learning alongside your current teaching materials.

Led by a Primary Mastery Specialist, you will work collaboratively in classroom-based activities to refine and improve your teaching. Evidence-based, and in line with EEF recommendations, this model of Professional Development is designed to support substantial long-term change.

Who will be leading the group?

Alison Turner

Alison is an experienced Mathematics subject leader, a Primary Maths Teaching for Mastery Specialist and NCETM Professional Development and School Development Accredited Lead. She has a master’s degree in primary maths, a MaST qualification and experience across the full range of primary classes. Alison has been working with SHaW Maths Hub since Maths Hubs were launched in 2014 and was fortunate enough to be involved with one of the early England-China exchange visits.

Who is it for?

For Maths Subject Leaders and Teachers

What will it involve?

All pathways follow the same format of 3 half-day workshops, with school-based tasks.

To allow for the greatest impact from engagement with the pathways, leaders are encouraged to discuss school-based tasks with their staff following workshops and schedule time for their completion.

What is the cost?

DfE funded so free to all participating schools.
