Leading Mathematics Offer (Sustaining TfM) Herefordshire and South Shropshire Work Group

Our offer for Sustaining Schools comprises of two parts:

2. A choice of pathways

All pathways follow the same format of 3 half day workshops, with school-based tasks.

To allow for the greatest impact from engagement with the pathways, leaders are encouraged to discuss school-based tasks with their staff following workshops and schedule time for their completion.

If your school is currently using Mastering Number at Reception and KS1, then participation in our Leading Mathematics programme will enable you to apply for Mastering Number at Key Stage 2

Programme Launch for Leaders

Keynote speaker – Michelle Cobb - "I am an experienced Maths Lead for Aspire Educational Trust and an Evidence Leader in Education (ELE) for Aspirer Research School. As Work Group Lead for the 2023-2024 Research and Innovation Work Group 'Oracy' project, working alongside Voice 21, with a focus on 'the impact of specific oracy strategies on disadvantaged pupils’ understanding of mathematics'. The impact this year has been incredible and I can't wait to share effective strategies with you all!"

Focus on developing high quality oracy in mathematics and pedagogical approaches to improve oracy strategies in the classroom

Spring Term

Open Lessons for Leaders

Thursdays or Fridays in February/March 2025 - dates tbc

Open lessons and reflection on oracy strategies and their impact on children’s understanding of mathematics

Choose to attend one event in either Shropshire, Herefordshire, Telford or Wolverhampton

Conference for Leaders

Reflecting on and refining effective models of PD

Keynote speaker Tom Pole Tudor Grange Research School Director  - Using the Updated EEF Implementation Guidance to Explore Why Implementation Matters: Turning Engagement with Research into Tangible Changes in School Practices and Pupil Outcomes.

Tom brings over 20 years of school experience to his role, having worked in various settings and schools across the West Midlands.  Starting as a maths teacher, he progressed to curriculum leader and has served as a senior leader since 2011.  Though he doesn't teach maths as much as he might like, he maintains his connection to the subject as the senior link for Origin Maths Hub.
