Are you a Year 4 and/or Year 5 Teacher or Leader looking to secure firm foundations in the development of good number sense for all children? 

This Mastering Number Programme enables pupils in Years 4 and 5 to develop fluency in multiplication and division facts, and a confidence and flexibility with number that exemplifies good number sense.

Who will be leading the group?

Roxy White

Roxy is a Year 5 Teacher and Maths Lead at Cleobury Mortimer Primary School. She has recently completed her Primary Maths Teaching for Mastery Specialist training after gaining a PD Lead accreditation and leads workgroups across the SHaW Maths Hub. Roxy is training as a NCETM School Development Lead and has previously developed Maths Networking across a large trust. She is a guest lecturer at University of Worcester and a visiting fellow at Ambition Institute, where she facilitates NPQ Primary Mathematics.

What will it involve?

  • Attendance at half-termly online, professional development workshops. Separate sessions will be held for Year 4 and Year 5 lead teachers; usually at different times on the same morning or afternoon. Very small schools that have a Y4/Y5 class with a sole teacher will need to release the teacher for the whole morning or afternoon to attend both sessions. 
  • regular contributions to an online community, reflecting on the implementation and impact of the programme 
  • Engagement with evaluation of the programme  

What is the cost?

The Mastering Number at KS2 Work Groups are fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme so are free to participating schools.
